Parkscapes at Ching 20260827

. We attended the Brampton JAM performance during the last leg of the Parkscapes events hosted by the Brampton Arts Organization, and enjoyed the live improv storytelling and dancing, along with the watercolour table. They kept us fed with samosas (I took extra, so good), and what I think were vada (veg fritters) and kachori (pastry filled with maybe green peas). The Mayor even shared a few words, in spirit of art in the park!

. So thankful for the opportunities to jam and meet new friends while rediscovering the joy of playing music with others, putting childhood music theory to good use, all while learning guitar. The incredible generosity we have experienced in the past month of writing is overwhelming. Thank you!

. Electric Armchair was given the space to perform at the latest BICZ meetup at City Side Cafe, between sessions of one-minute-long challenges drawing characters from memory. April had ordered a lemonade, while I enjoyed a foamy cappuccino and a warm brownie.

Gino's Pizza Yellow Avens 

. Ordered online, picked up in person, short wait, but appreciate the hot and fresh pizza, which came with generous toppings and great flavour; the dips were okay, as the pizza was already spicy and garlicky. Do recommend, we will visit again!

Hello reader,

April and I enjoyed the Smoke-a-palooza from Smoke's Poutinerie!

We walked from Union Station to the Cabbagetown Fest and Double Take’s clothing swap, then to Sankofa Square to watch the Poutine eating event featuring names like Miki Sudo and Joey Chestnut.

There was live music, they covered Ozzy Osbourne among the rest of the setlist.

We caught the whole contest, grabbed two of their free poutine, then checked out the Lavazza popup at TIFF before sitting by Lakeshore.

The curds were squeaky and the gravy’s salted seasoning went well with their thick-cut fries; over a year ago from the time of writing, we had the pulled pork poutine and deep fried cheese curds from the Adelaide Smoke's Poutinerie, so it was a great day to try their classic!

We ate at the Toronto Island BBQ & Beer Co. on Centre Island after going to see the largest rubber duck in the world!

This was our second trip on Toronto’s ferries, and our second time meeting the big yellow duck; watch out for a Toronto Roadmap update with more photos of our trip!

.We ordered truffle fries with a garlic aioli dip and pulled pork for April and a poutine with brisket for myself which were both full of flavour, the Sandbagger cans featured some textile stimulation with their sand logo and tasted great while going down smooth. Only complaints were how dry the pork was, and that our food came out at room temp.

The song is “Enigma” from “Forest Machines”, the latest release from Electric Armchair; find April’s psychedelic albums anywhere you listen to music! Photos were taken by April and me, and the Restaurant Roadmap video was edited myself.

The taste of these Ketchup Nugs were okay, but the texture was chewy and greasy compared to other fast food chicken nugs. The fries, poutine and mozzarella cheese sticks were the highlight of this trip.
