20211118 - Fishing for Caribou Cover and Release Date Reveal

The cover artist for "Fishing for Caribou" is the one and only April Salisbury-White (Electric Armchair) who took our original designs and made us this awesome cover!

"Fishing for Caribou" will release by November 30th. The digital eBook will be on the Kindle store while the paperback and hardcover will be available through Amazon. 

In celebration of the release, we will be rolling out the first wave of "Fishing for Caribou" merchandise on Redbubble; the book links at the top of the page will be updated with more information through the next few days.

Fishing for Caribou first page of Part One

While we finish the cover images, April and I are pleased to more officially announce the third book in the HaikuPrajna Collection, "Fishing for Caribou". I wrote this story during 2020's Inktober and National Novel Writing Month and, while writing this 2021's Inktober and NaNoWriMo, I still have the hopes of tying the two together promotionally through the two annual writing events.

In addition to sharing the pictures in this post with our readers, I wanted to document a few of the changes that the story went through during production. One of Spearthrower's spearheads is a fallen meteorite with a sharp edge, and while the draft does not reflect this, it is referenced in the book's poetry section; at one point the alchemists were apothecaries, then scientists who had a rocket; and the title had developed from "Spear-thrower" to "Fishing for Caribou".

We are still planning on an October 2021 release, but will probably have to wait until November; sorry for the hold-ups, we appreciate your patience and understanding.

Last year, I used the 2020 Inktober prompts to carry myself through NaNoWriMo 2020 and write the whole first draft of Fishing for Caribou. This year, now that we're about to announce the release date for Fishing for Caribou, which collects last year's Inktober poetry, April and I are compiling more art, micro fiction and poetry to make content for another HaikuPrajna Collection that follows a man named Bucket.

For Inktober 2021, please enjoy these poems based on April's 25th birthday-present mashed up with the drawing prompts! April is busy coming up with original drawings for each prompt while using Bucket as a muse. These Inktober poems and drawings will be collected along with pieces of micro fiction (which will be posted later, maybe for NaNoWriMo 2021) and a novel-length story as a future edition of the HaikuPrajna Collection.

The third draft of "Fishing for Caribou" is complete!

I had worked on "Spearthrower" since October 2020, and most of HaikuPrajna during this time has been based on the WIP, which will all be released later this year as the third HaikuPrajna Collection, "Fishing for Caribou". The completion signifies a new change in the way that content is shared on this site, which will simply incorporate older practices from Patreon and IG. HaikuPrajna will continue to be based on the project I am editing that is closest to completion but will now include HaikuPrajna based on photos and excerpts of our released projects.

For now, I will finish making poems on the rest of "Fishing for Caribou", so please look forward to reading more bite-sized insights from "Escape Perennial City", "SM-SARA" and projects like "Fluke" in the near future!
