Came once again for an amazing bird-day birthday.

The building is massive! They make such great use of the space, looping in on itself during the initial museum tour before opening into the aviary at large. We always have a great time being so close to all the birds flying and singing around us. 

Try to find a bench and relax for an hour or two!

Hello reader,

We were taken on a tour of the Rose Theatre during Downtown Brampton’s Doors Open Event. 

Our wonderful guide allowed us to try the parabolic dish in the entrance’s ceiling, which has an effect you have to experience to believe. 

She showed us the special level where the talents are provided dressing areas and green rooms that are separated from and off-limits to the general public. 

We were given another opportunity to stand on the main stage and walk through the aisles of the theatre’s seating, being led out of the second storey’s soundproof vom.

Looking over the railing over the bar’s sitting area, she told us how the stone tiling of the main lobby is in line with the stonework outside in the Garden Square, how it leads straight from the intersection of Main and Queen right to centre stage inside the Rose.  

An important landmark of Flower City for certain; make sure you appreciate all the stonework in the floors and countertops, and do keep your feet off the vinyl wall panes while sitting down, as they both have been imported from overseas.

Hello reader,

The new TRCA building is impressive. We went on a short guided tour and learned about the materials used (hint, it's wood), some of the different energy conserving techniques used by the building itself, and the necessary procedures required to upkeep such a massive display of ingenuity.

It was fun, go check it out!

Hello reader,

April and I enjoyed the Smoke-a-palooza from Smoke's Poutinerie!

We walked from Union Station to the Cabbagetown Fest and Double Take’s clothing swap, then to Sankofa Square to watch the Poutine eating event featuring names like Miki Sudo and Joey Chestnut.

There was live music, they covered Ozzy Osbourne among the rest of the setlist.

We caught the whole contest, grabbed two of their free poutine, then checked out the Lavazza popup at TIFF before sitting by Lakeshore.

The curds were squeaky and the gravy’s salted seasoning went well with their thick-cut fries; over a year ago from the time of writing, we had the pulled pork poutine and deep fried cheese curds from the Adelaide Smoke's Poutinerie, so it was a great day to try their classic!
